Toufouk Ténéré

the aim of the project is to improve the daily life of inhabitants of Agadez region (in Niger) with the help of solar energy. Photovoltaics appear to be a promising alternative to facilitate access to water. Thus the sun, usually seen as a bane in that region, might become resource of prosperity.

More about the association Toufouk Tenere : “Toufouk Tenere – Soleil du désert”, is born during a trip of friends who travelled to North Niger, motherland of one of us.

The name «Toufouk Tenere» means «Sun of the desert» in Tamasheq language – the language spoken by Tuareg people in the Aïr Mountains, which is a massif located in northern Niger. Tuaregs are nomads living in the Sahara Desert.
